Wisconsin to expand business tax credit program Home

By The Business Journal of Milwaukee (Jul 22 2005)

WISCONSIN — A state program that provides tax credits to Wisconsin businesses expanding or locating in economically distressed areas will be expanded, Gov. Jim Doyle said.

The Enterprise Development Zone Program, administered through the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, will make $120 million in tax credits available to such companies, Doyle said Thursday.

The $243 million program was created in 1995. About $123 million in credits have been provided to businesses, but the remaining credits couldn't be used in recent years because of limitations on the number of development zones in Wisconsin.

Doyle said he will use his veto power to remove the limitation when he signs the new state budget on Monday.
